Taiyofu Orchestra 　　　OKINAWA JAPAN

Taiyofu Orchestra (taiyo meaning “sun” and fu “wind”) presents a unique musical sound, featuring the powerful and robust beat of the Ryukyu drum combined with the soothing melody of the synthesizer. Together they create a commanding yet calming rhythm stirring both body and soul.

Taiyofu was born in Okinawa where historically music entertained many foreigners. During the Ryukyu Kingdom period , Okinawa prospered as an international trade center among other Asian nations. Visitors to Okinawa were entertained by the island’s unique culture; and its music, in particular, developed a universal appeal.

Coming from the heart of Okinawa, the spirit of this unique sound appeals to all audiences. We realized during a tour of Indonesia in 2000 that music has no boundaries. When music is played with pride, audiences of any nationality will embrace the sound.
